08.03.2010, Tourist visa & Songkran Holiday:
Due to the expected increase in visa applications during March, for travel to Australia during the Songkran
holidays, it may take up to 6 working days to finalise tourist visa applications. Processing may take longer
if the application is incomplete or if there are other issues to be addressed. The Embassy will try to
finalise applications as soon as possible, but applicants are requested to allow 6 working days before
contacting the Australian Visa Application Centre.
Visa applicants are encouraged to submit their application in plenty of time.

Effective 08.02.2010, Label free evidence for non-permanent visas:
Australia's modern electronic visa system does not require you to have a visa label placed in your passport to confirm your immigration status and entitlements in Australia. When you check in to fly to Australia, the airline staff will electronically confirm that you have authority to travel to Australia prior to you boarding the aircraft. The visa is linked to the passport number that you provided in your application. If you obtain a new passport after visa grant, you should advise the department of the new passport details. If you do not provide us with the details of any new passport, you may experience delays at the airport and may be denied permission to board your flight to Australia.

- 15.10.2007: Important changes have been made
to Australian visa application forms. From 15th October, applicants
aged 18 years and over are required to sign an Australian Values
Statement when applying for selected visas. The statement requires
certain visa applicants to confirm that they will respect the
Australian way of life and obey the laws of Australia before being
granted a visa. All provisional, permanent and a small number
of temporary visa applicants are required to have read (or had
explained to them) the Life in Australia booklet before signing
the statement. For all other temporary visa applicants the Australian
Values Statement is included in the general declarations section
of their application form. Copies of the Life in Australia booklet
can be obtained from www.immi.gov.au.
Updated visa application forms containing the new statement are
also available from www.immi.gov.au
or at the Australian Visa Application Centre.
